St. Michael & All Angels Church

Celebrating, proclaiming & demonstrating God’s love as shown in Jesus

St. Michael's has a number of lively childrens and youth groups with many children taking part both on Sundays and during the week.

We have 2 Youth Workers who organise activities within the church for children aged 11 upwards and also spend time in local schools, leading assemblies and organising activities and clubs.

The children regularly take part in services, occasionally leading the service or performing drama, readings, leading prayers. Youth services are also organised and led by the older children and attended by other local churches and organisations.

See below for meeting times of all the groups and further information about them.

Sunday Club

is a fun and action packed club which takes place in the Church Hall between 10.30am and 11.45am on Sundays during the school term.

All children between the ages of 3 and 11 are welcome and at the moment we have 23 children on the register and average about 16 children attending each week. We have the full age range with our youngest being three and the eldest being 11 and preparing to move on to the older Pathfinders Group.

On a weekly basis we have singing, stories, craft activities, games and of course the all-important drink and biscuit!

We also have annual outings, parties for special occasions, Christmas nativity play, take part in some services and have an annual prize-giving service where all the children receive a book from the Church.

We cover a variety of topics including Old and New Testament stories, the Life of Jesus, Saints, Christian Aid Agencies, special occasions, Christian festivals and much more!

It is a social, enjoyable time and the children always go home with something – a piece of craft, a picture or even a cake!

If you are interested in joining us, you can come along any Sunday morning to visit us – ask for Sharon or Lesley. If you would like to find out more please ring Sharon on 07749 615516.

Holiday Club

This is an action packed week following a Christian theme but in a really fun way. It is for all children of Primary School Age and runs for one week during the School Summer Holiday and consists of four mornings, finishing with the all the children taking over the Church for a final Sunday morning celebration!

We offer 70 places and most years all places are fully filled so the hall is a hive of activity and noise! During the week                                                                     the children participate in music, drama, story-telling (sometimes with a video!), keep-fit, drawing, painting,   all sorts of different craft activities, games, jokes, and a whole lot more.

It is a great social time and many friendships are made.

As part of the week we have a family Bar-B-Q with lots of food and Bouncy Castles for the children. Last holiday club there were over 100 people enjoying the event.

The next Holiday Club will be in August 2010 so if you wish to find out more or receive a booking form nearer the time, please ring Sharon on 07749 615516.
